Cardboard Boat Race

The Cardboard Boat Regatta will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 during the Sunbury River Festival.


Build and decorate a boat in any shape or size - using only cardboard, duct tape, glue, and paint.
ROW your creation in front of hundreds of spectators...SINK spectacularly OR make it to the FINISH line!!! 

 Proceeds benefit the Central PA Rowing Association’s summer youth rowing program. 

Medals and bragging rights will go to winners in the corporate racing class for Most Enthusiastic Crew, Overall Fastest Boat, Most Creative Boat, Best Sinking, and Honorable Mention. 

Registration Forms and Fees can be mailed to Central PA Rowing Association (CPRA) prior to the race or handled during registration. Please make checks payable to Central PA Rowing Association.

Boat Classes:
  • Youth (people racing in boat are between ages 8-16) 
  • Adult (all people racing in boat are ages 16 and older) 
  • Mixed (both youth and adult)

Registration fee:
  •  $15 per person 
  •  $50 for boats with 4 – 7 people 
  •  $100 for boats with 8 or more people.
Registration fee is $120 per boat

A monetary donation will be made to the non-profit organization of the crew’s choice for the winner of the overall fastest boat in the corporate racing class.

Sources of Cardboard: 
To make your cardboard boat, you will need large pieces of cardboard. You can pick up cardboard at local businesses including:
  • Beiters Appliance, Furniture and TV in Sunbury; 286-6414
  • Boscov’s Department Store at the Susquehanna Valley Mall; 374-0121 (please call receiving department before arrival)
  • Stamm’s TV and Appliance in Lewisburg; Cardboard may be found in the alley behind the store; 523-3321
