Masters Coach Wanted
The Central Pennsylvania Rowing Association (CPRA), located at Shikellamy State Park in Sunbury, PA, is looking for a masters rowing coach for the 2025 season. This position would complement our coaching team, which already includes coaching for learn-to-row and youth programs.
We are a small club of 30-40 masters rowers, including a morning group and an evening group. Ideally, the successful candidate would be available to coach three morning sessions and three evening sessions per week from May 27 through August 29, but this is negotiable depending on coach’s availability. The morning group typically rows MWF 6:00-8:00 a.m. and is restricted to experienced, competitive rowers. The evening group typically rows MTTh 6:00-8:00 p.m. and consists of both novice rowers who have completed a learn-to-row program and experienced rowers. All club boats are sculling shells (including singles, doubles, quads, and a training octuple). We also own two wakeless launches.
In addition to coaching (approximately 12 hours per week), optional opportunities exist for additional responsibilities, including organizing rowers to travel to regattas and helping to maintain equipment.
We are located in a beautiful state park near the confluence of the West and North branches of the Susquehanna River. Each summer the river is dammed to create Lake Augusta allowing for miles of rowing on typically calm water. We are just a few miles from two college towns (Lewisburg, home of Bucknell University, and Selinsgrove, home of Susquehanna University) where affordable short-term housing can be found. We are surrounded by miles of country roads that are a haven for cyclists and Bald Eagle State Forest with miles of hiking trails. New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and D.C. are within a three-hour drive.
In addition to offering a competitive wage (depending on experience), we also offer free club membership and boat storage.
A level 1 US Rowing coaching certification is required. The club can help with the process to attain this certification if necessary.
